The Resort Group breaks ground at latest Cape Verde development

Tuesday 22nd December 2015

Property development firm The Resort Group has started the building of its latest project in Cape Verde, White Sands Hotel & Spa.
The commencement of building was marked on December 19 with a groundbreaking ceremony chaired by Cape Verde Prime Minister, Jose Maria Neves.
The new resort is a five-star hotel complex and will be the Derby-based firm's first foray onto the island of Boa Vista.
The Resort Group plans to incorporate an impressive marina into its latest project, which will be developed with a number of the world's leading hotel brands.
Some 835 properties – from private villas and penthouse hotel suites to suites with private gardens and swim-up pools – will make up the development.
White Sands – which will be built on Santa Monica Beach – is part of a wider development project taking place on Boa Vista. In recent times, the Cape Verde Government has approved numerous property development plans as well as investing in improving the island's existing infrastructure.
“The tourism success of Cape Verde has largely been driven by the increasing number of visitors to the neighbouring island of Sal,” says Rob Jarrett, CEO of The Resort Group.
“Sal has grown up, and our successful investment model is set to be replicated in Boa Vista. Like Sal, the island will become a property investment hotspot and the reasons for this are simple. Its stunning beaches, year-round sunshine and increasing number of direct flights from across the UK and Europe will entice people looking for an alternative holiday destination,” he adds.
The Resort Group currently has two successful resorts – MELIÃ Tortuga Beach Resort and MELIÃ Dunas Beach Resort & Spa – on Sal Island, with Llana Beach Hotel scheduled to open in 2016.
